(1) Students must have completed Mechanics I: Intensive. (2) Students
must be able to cue fluently. Students who rely on supplemental
materials like charts or worksbooks when cueing may not
attend this course.
Description: In
this course, students work on applying the concepts covered in Mechanics
I: Intensive. Practice activities cover a broad range of topics
while allowing individuals time to select specific skills to customize
their training. Prosodic features of cued English (such as rhythm,
intensity, prominence, mood, and inflection) are explored in detail.

Description: Nobody’s
perfect, but cuereading through other people’s errors can
be difficult for non-native cuers. In this course, students will
work on understanding a cued message in spite of common errors deliberately
made by the instructor.

Description: This
two-day course covers everything you need to know. Students learn
about the trickier aspects of cueing English as well as topics such
as stress, inflection, and reduced vowels. The process of identifying,
prioritizing, and eliminating common errors is emphasized in the
contexts of comprehension by the receiver and standardized testing.

review key concepts related to cuereading. Initial activities use
single words and common phrases. More challenging activities include
sentences, short stories, and cuereading with important visual information

Description: Because ethical behavior
is inherent in the Cued Language Transliterator Code of Conduct,
it is important to track situational applications of the Code of
Conduct in terms of the professional's decision-making process.
Herein lies the foundation of the on-the-job "judgement calls"
which are otherwise the product of personal influences. Ethical
Decision Making I examines the implications of professional ethics
and personal ethics with regard to goals of the discipline of cued
language transliteration. This module makes use of structured group
activities, sessions for free-style discussion, analysis of participant-generated
ethical challenges and more.

Description: The
objective of this course is to provide students with a clear and
accurate view of their current cueing ability. Each student will
prepare a cueing sample, then privately view and assess the material
focusing on specific skills. Students learn techniques for both
qualitative and quantitative analysis. Many students describe this
course as “eye opening.”

transliterating skills practice sessions, which include cued American
English receptive skills, paraphrasing, summarizing, cued English
to spoken English transliterating, expressive cueing fluency, transphonation,
helpful hints for at-home practice and on-the-job training plus
stress reduction and personal relation strategies. All of this is
provided in a laboratory setting for videotaping and includes an
individualized skills assessment and feedback.
